Dennis Farrell writes: 'My recent work is a response to light, form and texture observed in coastal landscapes, harbours and estuaries. I work with ceramic materials and processes to construct free-standing sculptural forms and low relief pieces that can either be displayed on a wall or flat surface.
Boats stranded by the receding tides are of particular interest with their sea-washed and weather worn surfaces. Other works explore a sense of space and atmosphere, interceded by the structures of harbours, jetties and geological formations.
I have been a maker of ceramics whilst being actively involved in ceramic education for the past thirty years. Throughout this period I have exhibited widely in the UK and at venues in Europe, New Zealand and South Africa. Currently, I make ceramics full-time in my studio in Shropshire.'
