Michael Sissons writes: 'The often-hidden inner drama that lies just below the surface of every individual has always been an area of huge fascination for me. The effects that our experiences and circumstances have on our psychology and outlook are what create the portraits and images that we hold up for the world to see. How we reveal and conceal parts of those aspects of our character is a measure of the honesty and courage we allow ourselves to experience and others to see. Being permitted to glimpse the inner lives of others and then present them for the world to see, is one of the biggest challenges and greatest privileges that an artist can have.
My Masters degree involved classical atelier training combined with a university degree programme in Florence, Italy. My major area of concentration was Classical Composition using the Sight-Size technique; first developed during the Renaissance and later refined, becoming the basis for the instructional programme at the French Academy.'
