Miranda Halsby writes: 'My work reflects my life and interests and I have studios in Dorset and the Languedoc, France. I am interested in people, particularly busy groups doing things they enjoy, markets, playing boules and village fetes. I love landscape and the patterm qualities that this can give to a picture. I am always interested in pattern, occuring naturally in leaves , trees, clouds, sand, water and sunlight and in man made environments, like views of roofs, stations and railways, bridges and mills. Sunlight is very important, giving the full tonal range of lights and darks so necessary in a good print. I love to work in colour, something of a departure from traditional black and white etching, sometimes putting colour on a single plate and sometimes using two or three contrasting plates to make a print. I am always looking at work by other artists, alive and dead and I never know when I will learn something new.'
Miranda Halsby was elected a member of the Royal Society of British Artists in 2001.
