End of the Harvest, Summer gone Specification

Nat Young writes: Barley is a frequent crop and I can never get tired of seeing the round bales of straw, their shadows and the way that they seem to fit into the harmony of the flat Essex landscape. In the late sun with their own reflected light, the bales for a short time before they are moved, provide a character to the flatness of the fields.

Acrylic on board

152 x 122 cm approx

I use watercolour, gouache, oils, mixed media often applied on a collage of torn water- colour paper; applying bold colour and dynamic gestures using whatever comes to hand, an old brush perhaps or a knife, to give an impression both of the subject and my artistic response to it.
