Nat Young writes: For once this painting was more or less painted at one go, which is unusual for me.

The light was constantly changing with bright patches of sunlight and mistiness as well. It is a studio painting and is the response to feelings received over many ‘stays’ in that area.. It is also my response to the painting itself as well as my feelings obtained at the time.

I use watercolour, gouache, oils, mixed media often applied on a collage of torn water- colour paper; applying bold colour and dynamic gestures using whatever comes to hand, an old brush perhaps or a knife, to give an impression both of the subject and my artistic response to it.
